We recently ate at Mi Nidito, a Mexican restaurant on 8th Ave between 51st & 52nd. The decor is nothing fancy but they have a huge menu including a ton of vegetarian selections. As a Texan for whom Mexican food is comfort food, I have to say the food was great -- and they have a lot to choose from, Tex-Mex to Cal-Mex to really truly Mex-Mex. They deliver to our area. 212-265-0022.

Also owned by the same owner, and in the same block, are El Nido (Italian, 212-265-7979, www.elnidosnyc.com) and Bombay Eats (212-265-7777, www.bombayeats.com) which also deliver to our area. Haven't tried them yet but I picked up the menus!
