Gym and Pool Progress; First 10 WEA Residents

Friday, June 29th, 2007

We visited the building yesterday for our second walk-throughs and found a lot was new:

 - As we were entering the front of the building, we peeked inside the gym and saw that gym equipment was being set up.  Treadmills were lined up at the far end of the gym, while weight machines and free weights were being unsheathed from their plastic covers.  The floor was a soft, rubbery tile that is pleasing to the step.  We expect that the gym is probably in work-outable condition today.

- The pool is filled with water and looks even nicer than the picture on the 10wea.com website.  It felt warm and pool-like in there, which made us feel like taking a swim (No time for that, of course).  The only thing left to be finished in there is a rail next to the stairs.

- As we were doing our second walk-through, we learned that yesterday was the building’s first closing.  We will be closing on Monday, and will be among the building’s first residents.  We met the concierge in the lobby, but weren’t sure if there were any other staff there as of yet.

More updates to come…

Building Visits and Walk-Throughs

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Congratulations everyone! The first closing will be on June 28 and many closings are to follow. I just learned that for sold apartments the sales office is now out of the picture. If you’re like me, you might be having separation anxiety since the sales office has been the main point of contact for information and building visits. This is the end of the beginning, so to speak, and now we’re moving on to walk-throughs and (gasp) closings.

Access to the building is a little tougher now because appraisers will be carefully evaluating it for our mortgages and they want everything shiny and new on the big day(s). If you want to measure before you move in, you can do so during the walk-through. Perhaps you can bring in contrators before the closing by getting permission from Cooper Square Management (I haven’t tried), but I think they would prefer you wait until your closing.

10 WEA In Crain’s Magazine With Yours Truly

Check out this week’s Crain’s Business Daily to find a great article (if I don’t say so myself!) about my brother and I’s experience with 10 West End Avenue.
